Ian Wright explains why he wants Liverpool to win Premier League over Man City

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright would prefer Liverpool to win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City so the fans can celebrate inside a full Anfield

Ian Wright would prefer Liverpool to win the Premier League title this season so the Reds can celebrate with their fans in front of a packet out Anfield.

Jordan Henderson hoisted the trophy above his head in July 2020 with no crowd to witness the historic moment due to Covid regulations.

Liverpool has the chance to move to the top of the Premier League with victory over Watford at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime at least for a brief period as Manchester City take on Burnley at Turf Moor at 3pm.

Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Liverpool’s title rivals, City,

could choose to prioritize the Champions League over the Premier League as they have never won Europe’s elite competition –

losing in the final to Chelsea last season.

“I think Man City fans wouldn’t have a problem with someone being rested if that was the case [players were nursing knocks in Premier League games],

because they want the Champions League,” said Wright on The Kelly & Wrighty show.

“Liverpool fans would be delighted with that. Liverpool fans have won the Champions League now,

they’ve done it and they’ve done it a couple of times.

“I would like Liverpool to be able to win the Premier League so their fans can see it at Anfield. I’d like that to happen to them.”

The Reds are about to embark on a vital April with a huge Premier League clash at City’s Etihad Stadium,

an FA Cup semi-final against their title rivals and a Champions League quarter-final with Benfica.
